What does the sentence “The lines represent ‘equal distance’ boundaries where the distance between center points is equal” mean from the above image.

  1. How do the lines in the second graph act as equal distance boundaries?
  2. How is the distance between center points equal based on the graph on the right?

The problem in those figures is that the “center points” in the right image are not identified.

Perhaps the centers of the circles on the left are imagined to be superimposed on the image on the right.

That’s not a very satisfying explanation. I think you can only lightly regard the text that you highlighted, as the figure doesn’t illustrate the point very well.

I believe it is something like this:

You mark the center points.

Find the mid-point.

image

Draw a perpendicular line, and that is the boundary between these two centers.

You repeat this for every pair of adjacent centers.
