Checking the points from slide

Hi Team. I have a question in this slide


we have x = {0,4.6} and y = {0,4,6}. However for next slide, they just have like 7 points. It should be 9 points as each point of x will associated to each point of y.

Please let me know if I miss anything.

What are the two other points? After writing them down, check if each of them satisfies both equations.

the x = 4, y = 6 and x = 6 y = 4. I know it’s out of bound but I think It also the point to indicate here since Professor also indicated the out of bound points as well in slide. After, we can eliminate all the out of bound.

But the goal here is to find the minima, right? For it to be a candidate point (out of bound or not), it needs to satisfy the condition that both derivatives equal to zero. The first point (x=4, y=6), for example, only makes one of the two derivatives zero and not both. “Not both” is the problem here :wink:
