DE-C1-W3: Authorization Failure Messages

Experiencing security or permission related issue when performing instructions given in the graded-programming-assignment-2-good-data-architecture

Receiving below error When performing the step 5.5 which said the section 5-Enhancing the security.

There was an error modifying your security group inbound rules

There are more permission related errors are occurring with subsequqnce steps.

You are not authorized to use launch template: lt-0a0061f69f6760be9

Hello @rfernando ,you can try adding a new rule instead of modifying the old one.
You can look at this post here that someone had the same problem. Adding the new rule and then deleting the other one should make it work. Thanks

Hi Georgios, Yes, it worked with Inbound Rule task, but having same sort of issue in the succeeding step 7.1 - Using Resources Efficiently

Tried Launching Template manually and still failed with permission error

Hello @rfernando , I could reproduce the error. My guess is it happens between step 7.1.3 and 7.1.5 when you try to update the new template to t3.nano.
When updating the launch template you must use the provided launch template and simply update the version or you get permission errors.
In my lab the network tab has no VPC dropdown and prompts me to use a different version if I use a different instance:

Just use the existing auto-scaling group (step 7.1.1) or you get this error if you try to create a new one:

without doing as it was instructed in the assingment, how can submit the assignment for grading?

Hello @rfernando you submit through the Vocareum but have you tried updating the version of the launch template as instructed (steps 7.1.3 to 7.15) You need to create new instances with the new template to get graded. Thank you

Hello, @Georgios, I have the same issue of @rfernando , when I try to update the launch template from micro to Nano (Latest), I don’t have much knowledge of the AWS cloud, it would be great if you provide us with a step by step to how to fix the error and submit the Lab

Hello @Nadinson_Ramos_Glen in this part of the exercise you need to choose the auto scaling group as instructed (step 7.1.1) and edit the template followed in steps 7.1.3 to 7.1.5. You need to choose the correct instance t3.nano. Which part is giving you an error? Thanks

I didn’t quite understand your solution, but I still tried launching an instance manually and failed again with the failure message below.

Hello, my error occurs when I try to update the version of the launch template, step 7.1.5, it shows me an error, says that I don’t have permissions to update the launch template

@Nadinson_Ramos_Glen Is that the error? This can happen if you choose t2.nano instead:

@Georgios , yes thats my error

@Nadinson_Ramos_Glen you need to go back to 7.1.3 and this time make sure you choose t3.nano from the dropdown. This should resolve the issue. Thanks

Sure, it worked,
My issue was that I was selecting the t2.nano, I stead of the T3.nano,
Thank you very much four let me realize of my error!

You are welcome, however I am not sure this resolved @Nadinson_Ramos_Glen issue. I try to reproduce it, could you try checking the box next to autoscaling group (step 7.1.1) and scroll down to launch template>edit to make sure we are in the same screen. Sorry if there are complicated steps

Sorry for the incovenience @rfernando and thanks for your time here. I tried to reproduce the error and finally got this output when I used t2.nano and launch the instance from the template, You could try run it with the correct instance. Sorry for your trouble:
