Feedback: Severe performance issues and resource constraints in Data Engineering Labs

Hi everyone,

I am writing to share my feedback regarding the AWS lab environments for the Data Engineering Specialization.

Over the past few weeks, the lab experience has become increasingly difficult to follow. Specifically:

  • Launch times: Labs take an excessive amount of time to start (often exceeding 15 minutes).

  • Responsiveness: Once the environment is ready, opening Markdowns or executing basic notebook cells is extremely slow.

  • Stability: The environment feels under-provisioned, making it nearly impossible to complete TPs within a reasonable timeframe.

As a student, this is becoming a critical blocker for learning. Are there any known resource restrictions currently in place, or is there a plan to upgrade the lab infrastructure soon?

welcome to the community and thank you for sharing your feedback regarding the aws lab environments

i am sorry to hear that you are facing these performance issues as launch delays and slow responsiveness can definitely disrupt the learning flow

since the labs are taking over 15 minutes to start and feel under provisioned this might be a temporary infrastructure load or a specific sync issue with the aws instances

if you have tried clearing your browser cache or using a different browser to see if it improves the markdown loading speed
