I am an Electrical Engineering undergraduate in my final year. How hard or easy is it for me to switch to ML/AI . I have also completed the Machine Learning and Deep Learning Specialization. Will it be easy for me to switch to AI in the grad school . Will an undergraduate from CS background will be given more preference over me in the graduate applications ?
Hi, @SHAHID_KAMAL!
Now we are two! I have a similar background and I can tell you that if you are committed it is not that hard. In addition, these courses (and the certificates) are quite appealing for recruiters.
That sounds great! I’m doing my PhD right now, so I encourage you to keep up the good work!
Hey @alvaroramajo,
And now we are three. I also have my major as Electronics and Communication in my under-graduate and am looking forward to change my major to AI and ML in my graduate studies. I would love to hear some tips from you, if you have any for us, i.e., the electrical graduates
Cheers,
Elemento
Hi, @Elemento !
If you are really into ML/DL I recommend you to change to that field as soon as possible and practice a lot getting your hands dirty with different projects.
We’ll keep in touch in this platform!
Hey @alvaroramajo,
Thanks a lot for the advice, and it looks like I am moving along the right track. It’s been more than 18 months since I have been learning about AI and ML, and getting hands-on experience on as many projects as possible, while trying my best to ensure that the next project I take up is from a completely different domain(s) from the ones that I have already completed. Looking forward to hearing more advice from you!
Cheers,
Elemento
