Hi everyone,
As a complete beginner in this subject, would you advise me to start with the Machine Learning Specialization or the Mathematics for ML Specialization?
Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi @pacha007,
If by that you mean you are new to Machine Learning and AI, then yes, you can start with Machine Learning specialisation first.
With that being said, if you have interest in Math, you can take Math for Machine Learning before taking Machine Learning specialisation.
This is to say, both of these are basic specialisation, with the pre-req being you should be familiar with coding.
If you want to take the most out of machine learning, then you should take the math specialisation first.

Hi @Mubsi ,
Thank you for your reply.
Yes, I meant I am new to Machine Learning but I need to review my Python skills, it’s been years.
So you would suggest Python, then the Math specialization then ML ? And maybe the Deep Learning specialization afterwards?
Thank you.
The order would be
You can take M4ML anytime, as its primary focus is mathematics behind machine learning, not ML itself.
As for your python skills, if you are already familiar with programming, know how to build logic and know how to do debugging, you can skip python course. You can brush up on Python as you are taking MLS
By the time you get to DLS, you’ll need to be familiar with classes and methods using Python.
Thank you all for your answers, you’ve been very helpful!
Just one last question: in my case, I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in CS 12 years ago but I haven’t worked in that area at all! I would like to switch careers now and find a job as a ML Engineer or similar. What is the educational path you would suggest to follow in order to do so?

Hi @pacha007,
I should mention, I’m no expert at giving educational advice.
But if I were you, I’d take MLS, DLS in that order to understand machine learning and AI and then I’d try to gain practical experience with the knowledge I had learned.
You can do so by looking at several open source project on the internet and try to replicate or create something on your own. This way you’d have experience to show when trying to look for ML jobs.
