Incorrect information regarding number of solutions

t

We cannot have infinite solutions here as price cannot be negative and the solutions are bounded between 0 and 10 for both apple and banana . Please correct me if am wrong

Are we considering entire R+ in the solution set ?

The point is that you have two equations that are linearly dependent, so it is really only one equation. If you consider both costs to be real numbers between 0 and 10, then there are uncountably infinite possible solutions to x + y = 10.

But in the real world, currencies are not infinitely divisible (well other than crypto currencies I suppose), so it really would work out to a finite number.

But the point is really the underlying math, rather than the real world implications.

These assumptions are not generally true, considering just the pure mathematics of the equation x + y = 10.
