I’m a software engineer looking to transition into AI engineering and build relevant skills. However, I’m unsure where to begin or which courses I should focus on. I also noticed there isn’t a clear filter for development or role-specific guidance. Any recommendations on how to get started?

It depends on your software skill level, and your math skill level, and what your goals in AI engineering are.
Do you want to use existing ML tools to create models? (i.e. ML applications)
Do you want to create entirely new ML tools and methods (i.e. ML research).
yeah! I would also say that you should make a core base under your learning process *by covering Mathematics and concepts. Once done, you will start understanding the steps, so Develop a roadmap there under your certain requirements, interest and circumstances. Follow that and become what you want to be.
I am a senior engineer with 9 years experience and i am looking more towards using existing models rather than research
