Not able to delete instances (Module 3 - Permissions issue)

Hi everyone,

I’m following the step 6.1.6.“Now, you need to terminate the instances so the new instances that will be launched will be of the instance type just defined. In the EC2 service, go to Instances and select the two that are currently running under the name of de-c1w3-asg . Right-click on any of them and click on Terminate instance (or Terminate (delete) instance ). You may need to confirm this action in the pop-up window.”

However, there an error that shows up regarding the permissions to delete instances. “You are not authorized to perform this operation. User: arn:aws:sts::521677483552:assumed-role/voclabs/user4131172=dflbamfhmneh is not authorized to perform: ec2:StopInstances on resource: arn:aws:ec2:us-east-1:521677483552:instance/i-091c5556403c7e965 because no identity-based policy allows the ec2:StopInstances action. Encoded authorization failure message:”

I’m blocked since it’s needed to have the new instances (t3.nano) running. Did anyone experienced the same issue?

Hello @ing_ag7
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to reproduce the issue. Please, make sure that you are choosing all the correct settings in steps 6.1.1 to 6.1.5, and if the issue persists, request a lab refresh via this form.

I followed all the steps again and still having the same authorization issue. The form you shared does not list an available option for this issue, instead it says “If your issue is not any of these, please create or search for a topic on the Community platform instead of using this form.”. Could you please advise?

Could anyone please help with this issue? I haven’t been able to finish this module due to this blocker…

Hi, I’m still blocked due to this issue. Could you please help me troubleshooting the problem with the permissions?

@ing_ag7 choose any of the options available in the form and complete the form. The staff will handle the manual refresh.

Hi I am facing the same issue: what was the solution?
