Reset deadlines question

Hi,

This question is likely very obvious, but for some reason I can’t see it. I started the Deep Learning Specialization about 4 weeks ago, and got throught the first 4 courses already (been doing one a week). I just finished Convolutional Neural Networks a few minutes ago.

Unfortunately, when I started this, I was hoping to jump right into Sequence Models and wanted to watch a couple of those lectures. And… that started the clock on Sequence Models.

When I log in, I see this:

Assignments Overdue: You can still pass. You need to pass these assignments before the end date on May 30, 2:59 AM EDT

And I don’t see the reset button. I do worry about the “you can still pass,” but having done 4 months of material in 3.5 weeks, I need a short break and was hoping to pick this up again in about two weeks. There is a chance that I can finish by the end of May, but I would rather go through this section more slowly since it relates to my research program more directly.

Am I missing a button, or if I miss those deadlines, can I still reset? I would like to finish the course.

The point is that all the deadlines in all these courses are just “advisory”, in the sense that there is no penalty for missing them. They just automatically reset and then they start hassling you about the new ones. So the best idea is simply to ignore them and proceed at whatever pace works for you, which sounds pretty brisk in your case.

You may well ask why they bother with all this given that there are no penalties (which BTW is documented under Course Info on the left menu, so you needn’t take my word for it), but it turns out they have been studying students like us as “lab rats” for years and have the stats to show that hassling people in this way significantly increases the percentage of success at completing courses. But it’s clear that you have plenty of self driven motivation, so the aforementioned hassling is just noise for you. Ignore it and continue onward!
