Are AI and AGI same?
There is no consistent definition in the industry about what AGI means.
The term is surrounded by a lot of hype and marketing.
@farhana_aice Tom is correct, though I would say it is at least somewhat generally accepted that AGI is AI that can solve any (thus the ‘general’ part) problem at least as well (if not better than) a human.
Current AI tends to be more model/problem focused.
AGI stands for Artificial General Intelligence. AI has made significant progress in areas like deep learning, reinforcement learning, and NLP, but we are still far from achieving AGI. Current AI models, including large language models like ChatGPT, operate based on pattern recognition rather than true understanding. AGI would require advanced reasoning, adaptability, and possibly even consciousness.
In short, AI is currently biased on the data it was trained on, whereas AGI is when it can improve human-like thinking capability.
