C5_W1 quiz problem

The note mentions Гr, but there’s no Гr in the question, only Гu and 1-Гu!

I’ll report this to the course staff.

I think there are variants of this question which are just as broken (e.g. getting \Gamma_f in the note when it’s not in the question at all)

Thanks for your report.

I have similar feedback, my question was:

Using the equations for the GRU and LSTM below the Update Gate and Forget Gate in the LSTM play a different role to Γu and 1- Γu.

It may be a wording issue, but for me, they do play the same role. Instead of 1-Γu, we replace it by Γf, so in this sense, Γf does play the same “role” as 1-Γu. However my answer was marked as wrong. I got the following feedback:

Incorrect! Instead of using Γu to compute 1 - Γu, LSTM uses 2 gates (Γu and Γf) to compute the final value of the hidden state. So, Γf is used instead of 1 - Γu.

I agree with everything the feedback says. It may be that the word “role” is misleading in the question? obviously 1- Γu!=Γf, but I would say that it plays the same “role”.
