Can I join course 5 directly after course 1, as I need this LSTM model for a side project ?

You actually can. But following them in the recommended order is better for a more effective learning experience.
It also depends on your previous knowledge of neural networks and deep learning. Even if you do join course 5, try and go through courses 2 to 4 at a later time. You’ll get the complete picture that way.

Course 5 assumes you have already completed Courses 2 and 4, which is important because that’s where you learn how to use TensorFlow.

Without that experience, Course 5 could be quite difficult.
