Commonsense knowledge systems and asking for advice for job search

Hello community!

I want to know your opinion on the commonsense knowledge systems (AI with reasoning capabilities if you like). I believe that current LLMs like GPT, Llama, Claude are just complex “next-word-predictors”. They do not have memory except context length, they just predict next word regardless of the question, which is still impressive, but there is nothing truly “intelligent”. So what do you guys think of it?

My 2nd question is seek of advice. Long story short: I have finished bachelor and master in control engineering, worked 2.5 years in software development (C++, Python) for automotive industry and after I have been laid off I decided to switch my career path. Since I have background from my studies, it was pretty fast for me to catch up with these courses (I did ML and DL specialisation within a bit more that 1 month). I was thinking to participated in Kaggle competition or join some open-source project, but maybe there are other advises you have to get job in the future (I am located in Germany)? Because as for now it seems like everyone is looking for really experienced ML/AI engineers/researchers, which is frustrating. Or maybe switch back to software development

Thank you in advance

I agree.

This seems a good strategy. Sorry, I don’t have career advice (I don’t work in the ML industry).
