I am in the beginning of an AI class. I’m not sure about this

It is possible for AI to be programmed things but it still needs help in case something is not ideal. Right? I was driving today, I noticed someone wanted me to go first, but they had the right of way and would not go. I had people behind me lining up but I wasn’t going to risk an accident. I tried to communicate to the other driver to go ahead but they just stayed there even when no one was coming which is rare. I turned on my blinker and made sure it was clear, turned right and up the street and turned around fine, however, if it were a computer, I’m not sure they could do that. I did think it would be nice to be able to communicate better with the other driver. Perhaps, a computer could communicate more effectively I doubt it.

Dear @2Pass,

You’re right - self-driving cars are built to handle these situations using sensors, rules, and predictive models. They’re trained on vast data to respond safely, even in unexpected or unclear right-of-way scenarios.

But, humans still rely on subtle cues like eye contact or gestures, which AI can’t fully interpret yet. So while autonomous cars can manage the situation differently, human judgment in ambiguous moments remains more flexible for now.

Thanks!

Yes the machines cannot live in the present, and from what it seems even most people cannot live in the present either!
