Learning Path recommendation/ "Intermediate level python" for Data Engineering Specialization

Hi there,

I’m interested in taking the Data Engineering specialization as a foundation for launching a career in AI. The prerequisites mention a need for “Intermediate Python programming and some familiarity with working with data.”

I have a few questions:

  1. What exactly is considered “intermediate Python programming”?
  2. Would DeepLearning.AI’s “Introduction to Python” course cover enough material for me to take on the Data Engineering specialization?

Thanks for your feedback!

It’s challenging being an outsider, fascinated by AI, who wants to build technical skills to transition into a career in AI R&D. I’m not sure where to start or how to structure my learning. I really enjoyed the “AI for Everyone” course. My goal is to be able to lead the AI transformation playbook that Andrew Ng outlines in the course, applying it to an organization. My skill set is in project and people management, but I have a deep fascination with AI and would love to contribute meaningfully to the community.

How should I structure my learning path? Where do I go from here?

Thanks again!

Elroy

Hello @ElroyWaters
Regarding the required python programming knowledge, I must say you just need to be familiar with the general syntax. If you are familiar with python indentation, functions, dictionaries, python lists, importing and using libraries, and variables, I say you know everything you need to be able to start with the courses. You can always search and learn more whenever needed.
As for your second question, I haven’t taken the course, but I’m almost sure that it covers more than enough.
Cheers!
