W1 Programming Assignment 2

Hi there, I am trying to submit my programming assignment but encountered an error (see screenshot).

Please assist. Thank you!

Jason

Please contact coursera help for jupyter lab infrastructure issues.

This sounds like some kind of transient network failure. Notice the error about “Temporary failure in name resolution”. Perhaps your DNS server is failing. Are you having problems with web access in general? If not, then perhaps just wait an hour or two and try again. Or try from a different network.

Fantastic. I waited it out overnight and it finally worked. Thanks!

I’m facing the exact same issue, but just with this notebook/assignment - I could submit programming assignments 1 and 3 from W1.

I’ve tried 2 different networks, from my pc and from my tablet, and the error keeps occurring. I will try to do as @Jason_Lai1 and wait to submit it later today or tomorrow.

However, in the meantime, I would appreciate any suggestions if the issue continues to happen (I’ve contacted Coursera support too, and they redirected me to this community)

It is odd that it would affect just the C5 W1 A2 assignment. How close in time were your experiments with submitting the other assignments successfully to your failed submit of A2?

This looks like some kind of IT problem either on your computer (but you’ve tried several), your network or ISP (but there again you’ve tried several) or perhaps with the Coursera grading servers.

Just as a general matter, it’s pretty hard for us to diagnose IT problems that only manifest from your side. If the problem is on the Coursera servers, it usually affects lots of students and in other courses besides ones from DeepLearning.AI. Generally those outages get noticed and reported and dealt with, but sometimes it takes up to 12 hours to get things back to normal.

So the best we can say in general is to ask on the forums to see if others are simultaneously seeing problems, exactly as you’ve done. But the solution usually ends up being “wait a few hours and try again”, as in this case.

Hi @paulinpaloalto and thank you for your reply.

I had submitted the A1 assignment around 1 hour before, and the A3 assignment around 1 hour after, give or take. When I submitted the A3 I tried again the A2, but still could not submit it.

I let some hours pass as Jason did, and I could successfully submit the A2 at first.

To be honest, I don’t know what issue was it, since when I submitted it successfully, it was the same computer and network as I tried the first time.

And I agree with you - if the problem persist (even if it is due to something we cannot traceback) it’s good that this thread exists and remains open, so that others can be further clarified and to try again in a few hours.
