Week 4 content is removed!?

Hi Instructors, are the week 4 contents gone? I saw today since 1.1.2024, the content materials are changed and the assignments are changed from Trax to Tensorflow. Additionally week 4 materials are deleted. Please add back and advise on the assignments, why myTrax assignment1 was not accepted when i submited it today?

The Specialization was upgraded from trax to TensorFlow in courses 3 and 4.

Yes! But they removed the chatbot classes, which is highly unfair. My course 4 assignment done in Trax cannot submit and it is highly unfair to me for having done the work for 1 week and then this happened – Seeking coursera to do something or extend my course access. The service agent was not able to understand the problem and is doing nothing

Only Coursera can help with this. But I remember them sending out emails before the upgrade, explaining what to do in most foreseen situations.

Did your assignments done in Trax get deleted in the process of this upgrade?

Yes, I saw that announcement as well and my understanding was that what they would do is not switch anyone who had actually started the previous Trax version of the course to the new TensorFlow version, exactly because your work would not carry over. So this is some kind of mistake by the Coursera software. But now that you have a better description of what went wrong and how they can fix it, you should try contacting Coursera again. This time tell them that you want them to switch your account back to the previous version of that course: the one you originally started. Armed with that knowledge, I hope they will be able to perform that correction for you.

I totally agree this was unfair to you and hope that they will be able to help by switching you back. Note that none of the mentors work for Coursera or know how their mechanisms work behind the scenes. We are just fellow students who can only observe what happens and try to guess how it really works.

Good luck and let us know what they say!

Thank you for your support and advise! I am asking them for access extention so i can work on the tensorflow version. I am curious – Did your version remain as the Trax one and are your assignments still submitted and not deleted? Thanks

Once you are switched, everything else disappears, unless you saved the labs locally.

But they let you keep your certificate if you completed it previously.

Noted on the above. Thank you guys for your inputs. Additionally other than the switch glitch that removed my submitted work, I also wrote in to demand Coursera to add back Week 4’s chatbot material. Not sure why was Week 4 removed. It is a huge cut back on the learning resources. As for the switch, I actually prefer working in Tensorflow than Trax, so i do not mind doing the assignments again, but I want them to extend the access period

Hi Paul,
I went to the List of announcements and couldnt find any information regarding revamp of this course. Could you be able to tag it for me if you can find it? I am not sure where else to find the announcements, other than the “News and Announcements” tab on the left panel. Thank you!

Sorry, I can’t find it on Discourse either. So my guess is that it was in one of the “mentor only” subforums (although I checked there) or it was an email and I didn’t save it.

I got a mail as I was still enrolled in the course. I assumed it was sent to everyone enrolled.
Here’s the content:

Thank you @paulinpaloalto and @lukmanaj , turns out I may not have noticed the emails from Coursera/ did not receive them, but the information you both provided has given me a clearer perspective on how this happened. I will inform the service agent when he/she reverts. thank you so much for your help!

Can you please tell me how to save labs locally?

Usually there is a button in the labs environment labeled “Lab Files”. If you click on it, you get an option to “download all files”.

There is a topic about that on the DLS FAQ Thread, which applies to all the courses, not just DLS. But it’s just the “long form” of the info that Tom just gave you.
