C3W3Lab2 -- Getting `failed to start the lab` error

For some reason the Week 3 Lab 2 Streaming Queries with Apache Flink is not starting for me, I see the timer as 00:00 and when I click Start Lab after about 2-3 minutes of waiting I get the failed to start the lab error as you can see below:

I have already filled out the lab refresh form and wrote my Coursera email in it, should I just wait then? Any help or responses are appreciated as this is the last lab I need to finish to complete the Course 3.

Hello @hrosch
Sorry for the inconvenience. If you have filled out the form, please wait until you are notified that your lab has been refreshed. You will get notified here in the discourse.

Hi,

I have also filled the lab refresh form. Still getting the same error after 24 hours. Please advise. Thanks

bumping this thread because 48 hours have passed since I filled out the form and my lab hasn’t been fixed yet =(

Hello @jemwhosoever and @hrosch
I am sorry, but lab refresh is something that is done manually by our engineers, and it may take some time.

Hi @jemwhosoever and @hrosch ,

Our engineer was not able to locate the associated AWS account on our backend. I think this issue might not be related to “Account still in cleanup”.

@esanina @Cristian_M_Amaya would you mind taking a look at this? What could be causing this “failed to start the lab” error?

Hi @jessica-dlai ,

Thanks for your update. Unfortunately, this is the only lab missing for me to complete the whole professional certificate. Please advise.

In case it is too cumbersome to fix the lab, is there any chance to get a passing grade for this lab manually? I am in the same boat as @jemwhosoever, as this is the only lab missing to complete the whole professional certificate :face_holding_back_tears:

bumping this topic, and sorry for the double post but are there any updates? I am just missing this lab to get the specialization certification :disappointed_relieved:

@hrosch @jemwhosoever thank you for your patience. We have refreshed your lab accounts for this lab. Please try again and let me know how it goes - we might have to escalate the problem to the Vocareum engineers.

Warm grettings,

I seem to have a problem with Lab2 for C3W3. I don’t have permission to create the environment to develop the lab. Any suggestions?

Hello @Diego_Estrada
The problem might be with one of the configuration items on your cloud9 environment. Please, make sure that you are choosing the right instance type, SSH for network settings, and the right subnet and VPC.

Hello @Amir_Zare, thanks for your reply.

i had already checked the set up, but the problem must be another thing.

Hello, it looks like you need to select t3.medium. I can see t3.small instead

@Georgios thank you for your response. i amazingly overlooked that detail. that, indeed, was the problem

Happy to help @Diego_Estrada, thanks

I also have same problem, of AWS environment not starting for this lab (C3W3Lab2). All other labs in the course are starting well (I checked it). I tried to log out and log in from coursera, and also tried several browsers. None worked. Only this specific lab, will not launch AWS environment. Can you fix please asap

Hello @michael_Zimmerman
Please, fill out the lab refresh form. Your lab will be refreshed in 3 working days, and you can try again then.
