The Next Move

I would like some advice on what would be my next step in my journey to become a machine learning engineer. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity/w concentration in Data Analytics and found that machine learning was a career I would passionate about. After graduating I continued my education by obtaining the Machine Learning Specialization certification course offered thru Coursera. Deep learning is my next course to complete, but what would anyone suggest would be the best approach to apply these learned skills to obtain experience and at what point should I be ready to enter the job market. I know that this will take some time, but I am trying to logically navigate my way thru the preparation phase. Thanks for any responses, your comments are greatly appreciated.

Hi @Monte ,

I would say that you’re likely more prepared than you think! Many machine learning engineers grow their skills significantly on the job. Start applying and don’t worry about being “perfect” yet—employers value your willingness to learn and grow.

But also, your bachelor’s in Cybersecurity with a concentration in Data Analytics is a huge advantage. Applying ML to cybersecurity not only makes you a more specialized candidate but also positions you for higher-paying jobs due to the niche expertise.

Hope it helps…

Thanks for the insight, I guess I have a little imposter syndrome, seeing that I’m new to the field. This does encourage me to start testing the waters.
