Troubleshooting: Problem with Lab Access and Start Time

Hi.
i had a problem with a lab week 1. it was just hanging. I have managed to open it, i have started installing python on notebook, and then it stopped responding. I waited a bit, then tried again, but i started to see ‘403 errors’ on aws sagemaker. I tried closing/reopening, starting lab again, and now i am getting that “aws account was deactivated” after i press ‘start lab’.
I cannot continue my course that i have found very interesting :frowning:

Hi Michal, and welcome to the community! Please fill out the form mentioned in the previous replies above. We’ll contact you as soon as your account is reactivated. On your next attempt, please make sure that you’re using the instance type shown on the screenshot in the notebook. That is most likely ml.m5.2xlarge but please double check. Thank you!

Hi! started the lab just to test it, then logged out and tried to log back in. It says deactivated. pls could you help restore my account, this is really urgent

  • which lab are you taking (week number will do)------- Week 1
  • if you’re accessing the lab for the first time, or if it’s a retake-----accessed it once then logged out
  • (optional) screenshots of the error messages you’re getting------- when i click on start lab, it says: AWS account deactivated at 2023-09-07T04:55:38-07:00

Thank you!

Hi Michal. Please use the instance in the screenshot in the notebook. After doing so, you can double-check by hovering over the kernel button. It should show the instance type like below:

The lab can be quite strict and using other types might cause permission errors. Hope this helps. Thanks.

Week 1 Lab

Initially it gave not able to save error for notebook. The Kernel died and then not able to open aws/sagemaker (“deactivated error”)

Paid for coursera plus. yet it keeps saying please pay to access Lab 1 while I already watched the walkthrough (which technically is also paid content).

Hi, i am anbarasan. my week1 Lab aws not working.

  • week1 lab
  • first time

Hi Anbarasa, and welcome to the community! Can you check your system clock and sync it to a time server if possible? Here’s one article for reference but feel free to find another resource based on your setup. Then, relaunch the lab from the classroom. Also make sure that you are not logged in to a personal AWS account. You should only be using the student credentials automatically provided during launch. Hope these help!

Hi Sunil. As mentioned in the FAQ in the marked solution for this topic, this course is not included in Coursera Plus. Please also check the official guidelines for that subscription on the Coursera website. I think it mentions looking for the Coursera Plus badge on the enrollment page to know if a particular course is included. Hope this helps.

I am getting 403 error too. I also closed and reopened and getting account deactivated now. What was the resolution?

Hi

I am getting 403 access denied exception with below error message:

“ is not authorized to perform: sagemaker:ListDomains on resource: arn:aws:sagemaker:us-east-1:216602786751:domain/* with an explicit deny in an identity-based policy”.

Hi,

I am unable to access the lab after clicking the launch app button. The first error that I got as below:

AWS is currently experiencing networking issues which has led to increased error rates on our platform. AWS is working to identify the root cause and mitigate impact. Please try later

The second time I tried, I get this error:

All servers for this assignment are permanently offline. If you believe this to be in error, please contact Vocareum support.

Appreciate any help on how this can be resolved, thanks.

Hi Ryan! Thank you for reporting! There is currently an AWS outage affecting multiple services. Unfortunately, that includes the labs for this course. Their team has been posting updates here and we’ll continue to monitor it. We’ve also reported it to our partners. Will update this thread asap when I get more info.

Hi everyone! If you haven’t checked yet, the labs are now back online. There were still some intermittent issues about 12 hours ago but that should now be resolved. Hope you complete the labs successfully!

Hi Elirod,
I have the form filled out. But still could receive the credit. I have completed the course already and all I have left to do is to submit the labs to obtain the certificates but - I am out of budget for the labs.
